Origin of Pedal for Women in Science 300:
What started as friendly and potentially hypothetical conversation between two friends and coworkers about a small bike ride in California, has transformed into something much larger. For five years we have explored America by bike in the name of increasing the number of women and girls that pursue STEM education. We have raised over $50,000 for scholarships, and we aren't slowing down...
The Pedal for Women in Science ride is an annual event, and is open to everyone who supports our efforts to provide scholarships for women studying science. Many of the riders are scientists and engineers who believe expanding the field to include more women is good for both men and women. New minds mean new discoveries and new opportunities for all. If you are interested in riding please explore the website further and contact us to learn how you can join.
2019 Pedal for Women in Science 300:
Our 2019 ride will start along shores of Lake Superior, where we'll ride to the northern Mississippi River, then to the Boundary Water in the Northwoods of MN and finally to the North Shore of Lake Superior. Check out our ride itinerary here!
2019 is the fifth annual Pedal for Women in Science 300, and we hope to continue the tradition of cycling to empower female scientists for years to come!
It's no secret that a woman's road to success is still largely uphill, especially in fields that have been historically comprised of mostly men, such as science, engineering and mathematics.
We want to do our part to help women pursue their dreams of being scientists and engineers. Our charities provide empowering stepping stones and financial support for girls and women at all stages of their scientific education.
